Why Sun Protection is So Important

Why Sun Protection is So Important

We all love spending time outdoors, on the water and in the sun - but it's important to protect ourselves from the sun at all times.

According to Cancer Council Australia - "Australia is the skin cancer capital of the world. More than 11,500 Australian men and women are diagnosed with a melanoma each year, and an estimated 434,000 people are treated for one or more skin cancers. Skin cancer accounts for over 80% of all new cases of cancer diagnosed in Australia each year."

When it comes to skin cancer, a major risk factor is prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. It's important to protect ourselves from UVA rays - associated with skin aging, and UVB rays - associated with skin burning.
